A Beauty Bloggers Dilemma and NOTD- Revlon 308 Really Rose

Hello ladies!
I am planning to start do a lot of swatches of lipsticks and nail paints this year but one problem always discourages me. And this has also been the reason I have not done swatches before. That is misleading swatches! Please suggest your tips on how to swatch products true to their actual colour. Is there some special kind of lighting or technique that you use? Or is it okay for the swatches to be a bit different, cuz we normally check them before we have to buy them anyway. Any kind of suggestion would be appreciated.

Finally, finallyeeeee, my nails are strong enough that I can groom them. So I present to you, my very first NOTD post.

308 Really Rose  is a subtle pink shade with brown undertone.
I had actually forgotten how much I love Revlon’s Nailpaints, until I purchased this one recently. This range costs INR140 and has got a lot of beautiful shades. After buying this shade and loving it, I purchased two more from this range J. If my nails behave this well, you can expect more NOTD’s in future.

P.S. I found this site http://www.goodlife.com/ while looking for a good picture of this shade. The image that is shown here is 100% accurate to the shade . I am quite impressed with how they have shown the shades of other products too. Check it out if you feel like.

xoxo

  1. Such a pretty shade! :) About the photography, clicking pictures in natural lighting helps a lot. Also, if you are using flash, make sure to position the camera in a appropriate way. The basic rule is that the light should fall on the camera while clicking :D That means light falls on the subject :O Hope I made sense :P :)
    Nice review sweetie :)
    Love,

  3. totally love this shade Karishma... its so feminine and beautiful :)

regarding swatches in pics, I generally do two things...
    1. click a pic of the swatch with flash on and in complete darkness...
    2. I swatch a couple of other well known lippy shades with it like a comparison swatch...

    Hope this helps :)

  4. it's such a pretty shade!!!! looking forward to many swatches :)what i do with swatches when i do them, is to take one picture with flash and another without. so that gives a basic idea about what the shade would look like in real.

  9. Click pics of swatches and Lipsticks in Natural light, Artificial light and another in darkness with flash on! Another try to click pics against a white background! Dont use any attractive or flowery sort of background as it will draw attention there.Other people use costly cam too! Hmm also use that flower kind of sign that comes in camera, that is useful when you take pics closer than 28 inches.!Hope its useful!

  18. I take as many pics as it takes to find the closest swatch-I dont think artificial lighting helps-coz it makes the shades look brighter. Often editing the pics to bring out the true shade helps-coz most of the time I see that cams dont capture the actual ones :) And hey-your NOTD is cute :)

  20. Just wanted to thank you - I love that color so much I asked my man to get it from India and that website was like a prize! I've already asked him to get 15 things I loved on it! Wished I lived in India, I'd buy so many more things. <3

  22. Hey Karishma,

About the swatches, I've found that natural lighting is the best. No flash. Try to place the swatches opposite the light, no shadows. If you have macro setting in your camera (the flower symbol) turn it on- this is helpful when you take photos very closely.
*Important tip: To prevent pics from looking blurry, first gently press the button to focus and then fully press n click.

Hope that helped a bit :)

  23. Agree with CZ..natural lighting..pics in day time come up best..do not click after 6 wen darkness starts setting in..more light better swatches..:) And never with flash..the color looks much brighter and different..
And I like Really Rosy :)
