I have recently been obsessing over pastel colours. I have been so ever since I saw Lana Del Rey's fashion shoot for Vogue Magazine. I love the nonchalant feel to pastel colours and I love how they can be adapted to suit any aesthetic. I styled my outfit by using varying editions to the same colour spectrum, I've always been fond of the idea of working just a single colour all the way through your outfit. I used gentle, warm hues of pale pinks and tans; paired with soft greys and... a pop of bright orange! Okay, so I know that the neon orange totally counteracts what I just said about "working on one colour", but I couldn't resist adding some boldness to the outfit. Looking back now, the orange does seem mis-matching in relation to the pastel pinks; but I believe that fashion is all about expressing how you feel on the inside, on the outside! There are no rules in fashion, and trends should not be followed religiously. I like mixing up different components of my wardrobe until I find the perfect mix of what I want to wear that day; regardless of any ongoing trend at the time.

The ring I am wearing is my mother's, and I adore everything about it. The weight of it, the way it's far too big for me, the gold border and how it corresponds with the pastel pink gem. I think of my mother's jewellery  box as a big treasure chest bustling to the top with exquisite, un-found luxuryI recommend you all to root through your mother's/grandmother's jewellery boxes and you'll be astounded with what treasures you will find! I found large arm cuffs and bindis to anklets and toe rings, and so much more that I never would have thought to find! I love the idea of a nose ring, I don't have a nose piercing, however, I am aware that you can buy fake nose rings nowadays. Nose rings hold great cultural heritage for me.

You can catch this post on Indian Fashion Bloggers, where all my fellow desi fashion bloggers have gotten together to show off how we would style pastel colours!

Love from,

xoxo
